About
The moment an author decides to share their carefully crafted worlds with readers (a vulnerable prospect in its own right), they begin the arduous task of gathering a trusted group comprised of family, friends, and industry professionals that will ultimately shape their final product. At Pink Ink Editing, we offer Fiction and Creative Non-fiction editing services that not only prepare your work for printing, but celebrate and protect your authorial vision. We centralize the author's voice and intent at every stage of the writing process—from developmental feedback on an emerging draft to the final stages of line and copyediting.Pink Ink Editing specializes in the following genres (and many of their subgenres):
Fantasy
Romance
Science Fiction
Historical Fiction

Meet the Editor

As a long-time reader, writer, and lover of intricate, color-laden stories, Janna has devoted her life's work to nurturing the worlds and words of writers at all levels. Janna holds a Master's degree in English Studies with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Speculative Fiction, and has a variety of editing experiences within both Indie and Small Press publishing.Janna is an English and Composition teacher at both the collegiate and secondary levels. Her career as a teacher highly influences her work as an editor. At the heart of great teaching and editing practices is the recognition that the writer's voice must first be empowered before it can be developed and refined, and empowering one's voice as a writer requires understanding and empathy just as much as it requires expertise, an eye for correctness, and an ear for words' textures and rhythms. Professional feedback should never shift the nature of the author's work, but surface its potential, and this emergence can be both critical and celebratory. This philosophy on feedback led to Janna's noteworthy use of pink pens when writing on hardcopy manuscripts and the name of "Pink Ink Editing." In her opinion, critical commentary must be written in "pink ink" because red intimidates and blue is simply too bland. For Janna, editing someone's story—real or imagined—is far from an impersonal "services rendered." Editing is an intimate relationship between the work, the author, and the very real audience waiting in anticipation for the worlds they never could have imagined, or perhaps, for the worlds they could only imagine and have been anxiously waiting to experience.
